STILL TRAVELING

      April 30, 2014                                                                                             #3
Well we made it to ----no not Tampa but  Nashville Tenn. We have been driving for what seems like months but in reality it is just a few days.  We have visited Elder and Sister  Brenchley in Independence MO.-- seeing the Visitor's center, the Temple Lot, and the Liberty Jail.  It is always a great experience to feel the spirit that is in those places. We traveled up to Nauvoo, IL.--Old Nauvoo and Carthage jail, and felt the spirit of all those saints who gave so much to help us be better people, and the last stop was in E. St. Louis,IL.  visiting the Cahokia Mound Builders Museum--they lived in this country long before the white man came , It is interesting to contemplate who those Indians really were.  It has been a fun couple of days. Now we must get to Tampa!!
We have missed the terrible tornadoes that happened in the Mississippi area.  We have had a lot of rain and wind and wind and wind. My hair is now in a hair blown  state!! We feel bad for the people that lost their lives and for the people that lost their homes.
We are getting excited to be in Tampa. We wish that it would be a shorter trip, but it isn't. So we will keep traveling several more days hopefully arriving on Friday.

April 25th
                                                                                                                                      #2
We have been to meeting and more meetings for the first two weeks of this mission. Joel and I spent 10 days learning about "Teach My Gospel" and how to teach Institute and Seminary. There is such a neat spirit working with all these senior missionaries.  We found that a lot of  these seniors are going to all parts of the world--Washington DC, Russia, Siberia, Italy,Africa, Tonga and of course Tampa Florida.
We have been eating all of our meals with the young single  missionaries.  What a spirit they bring with them.  We have enjoyed that part of the program.   The food is good and plentiful--in fact we have had to watch all the brownies and chocolate chip cookies and the ice cream they serve.  It is a good thing that they have a great salad bar.
We were first assigned to stay on the MTC in building 2M but we were asked to move to the Courtyard/Marriott(poor us!!)  to help facilate some one who did not have a car for transportation.  The room was very nice and comfortable.  The only hangup was getting up at 6am to get up to the cafeteria at 7am.
We started our meetings at 8 am  and ended at 4:30 pm with several breaks in between.  A lot of learning and role playing. We were taught by return missionaries who helped us through the Teach My Gospel book. We had Elder Christen Bateman in the morning, In the afternoon we had Sister Clark. Both were very  good  teachers!!  In our group we had Elder and Sister Mickelson--Martin's Cove, Elder and Sister Bohman--Military, and Elder and Sister Miller--Tenessee MLS,.  These are great people and will be of great serve to the Lord.
In a addition to all the learning we had during the day.  We were able to participate with the young missionaries and go to all the firesides.  We were able to hear Elder Christoffson-- he spoke on the Book of Mormon and the testimony of Christ and Elder Oaks --he spoke on doing the best you can be as a missionary,
We started our drive to Tampa  onThursday. Not so bad I slept half of  the afternoon  TIRED!!  We made it to Laramine, Wy. about 300 miles- Thank goodness  the Best Western Motel was nice and comfortable .  We traveled on Friday all through Nebraska 530 miles --no mountains!  wow! I  wonder how these people navigate around .
Love and Blessings to you allDisplaying AprilMTC1.JPG
